Performing an Activity

  • Updated

Intel® RealSense™ PT Metrics camera and tablet give audio and visual instructions for each activity. In addition, the system helps you position yourself correctly before starting an activity and reposition yourself during an activity. Intel RealSense PT Metrics counts, tracks, and measures your performance (such as repetitions of an exercise) and measures how precisely you perform each activity, such as by measuring knee angles. Intel RealSense PT Metrics lets you see the measurements calculated (also called Results) for some activities.

Note: For some activities, all that Intel RealSense PT Metrics does is to provide instructions how to perform activities and records you as you perform them.

Starting an Activity

Here is an example of the first screen of an activity, which helps you learn how to perform the exercise correctly.

caution.png CAUTION Do not start the activity yet. Watch the video and read the information on this screen to learn about the activity before you start.

After you are ready to start the activity, click the Continue button or wave your hand in front of the camera to continue.

bulb icon.png Make sure that the lens of the Intel RealSense PT Metrics camera is pointing at you from approximately 1.5 – 2 meters away so that it can identify the wave of your hand.

Note – During the first activity of a session, the Continue button may be grayed out for up to 1 minute before you can click on it. This is normal system behavior.

This screen also shows the following –

exercise header.png

  • The name of the activity and the body parts to which it applies
  • The number of sets and repetitions assigned to you
  • The goal time between sets
  • The equipment you need
  • If your clinician wants accurate measurements, the activity is marked as "assessment".
  • An activity progress bar shows the number of activities assigned to you in this session. The current activity and each activity already completed (or skipped) is colored blue.

Click  textual description.png  to get a textual description of the exercise.

Positioning Yourself in Front of the Camera

Follow the instructions provided by Intel RealSense PT Metrics, and don't hesitate to ask the clinician for assistance if needed.

Positioning checks

NOTE - The following describes screens that may be shown for some types of activities. For activities that do not provide positioning checks, position yourself about 2 meters (6 ft) from the camera, with the camera pointing directly at you.

After the Continue button is clicked on the exercise explanation screen, the next screen provides audio and visual instructions on how to position yourself in front of the camera.

Performing an Activity

The screen displays various audio and visual cues and indicators to help you through each exercise. For example, as shown below –

perform activity.png

NOTE - Different options may be shown for different activities, and some activities may not show any options.

  • left arm.png The areas of the body to which the exercise applies are shown in the top right corner.
  • rec.png Shows that the activity is being recorded.
Note –The small light (white LED) at the top of the camera also indicates the camera is recording.
  • exercise video.png A demonstration video of the exercise is shown at the top right corner of the screen. This is the same video shown before you started the activity. Use the video to help you perform the activity correctly.

bulb icon.png You don't need to do the exercise at the same time or pace as in the video.
  • hold.png  – Shows how long to hold a certain position
  • Support animations appear on the screen for various exercises to help you understand the expected range of motion.
  • Bars:
    • The yellow line shows how much movement is needed for the movement to be counted as a repetition.
    • Many activities have one or more goals set by your clinician to help you heal and improve. These may be shown in this animation. The green line represents the goal. The background is gray but turns green once the goal is passed.

Other animations and colored indications may guide you on how to perform an exercise best. In the following example, blue indicates the correct starting point, green is the goals and yellow marks how much movement is needed for the movement to be counted as a repetition.

bulb icon.png Try to reach the assigned goals, but it’s not required to complete the activity.

Note – When exercising both arms or both legs, two bars are shown.

  • A countdown timer might be shown for resting between sets. For example, as shown below –rest.png
  • angle.png  – Shows the Intel RealSense PT Metrics measurement of your exercise.

sets.png – You may be instructed to perform an exercise a number of sets and to rest in between sets. In such cases, a set progress bar shows how many sets you have completed.

  • reps.png – For some activities, the system counts your repetitions of the exercises. For example, 2/10 means that 2 repetitions have been performed out of the assigned 10 repetitions of the exercise. You may notice a slight delay between performing a repetition of an exercise and it being counted on the screen.

bulb icon.png Intel RealSense PT Metrics uses sound and audio cues to help you do exercises without having to look at the tablet screen. For instance, it might beep at the end of each repetition, or show a message telling you how long you've been holding a pose in an exercise.

  • poor.png – Shows the strength of the system's Wi-Fi connection if it is poor (yellow color) or very poor (red color). Otherwise this indicator does not appear.

NOTE – you can ignore this indicator. It is for the use by the clinic’s technical support.

  • im done.png I’m done Button – Click this button after you have finished the activity. The following shows –
    finish the exercise.png
Some activities may automatically finish when you reach the repetition (Reps) goal count and. For these activities, the button does not appear.

  • Skip This Exercise Button – Click this button when you have decided that you want to skip this activity, even if you are in the middle of it. For example, if it's too difficult, painful, or you've been interrupted.  The following is shown –

Click Start to perform the activity. Each activity is done by itself. If you skipped a few activities you need to return to the Schedule screen to select the next one.

Finishing an Activity

After any of the following, Intel RealSense PT Metrics considers the activity finished

  • You clicked the I'm done button, as described here
  • You clicked the Skip This Exercise button, as described here
  • You have completed all the sets and all the reps of the exercise (reps indicator.png ),
  • The amount of time assigned to an activity is over.

After an activity is finished, one of the following pop-up messages below is shown. The message on the left shows when Intel RealSense PT Metrics takes measurements during the activity. Not all types of activities take measurements. For these activities, the message on the right is shown.

You can click the Sign out button now, or you can review the results, as described below.

Viewing Your Results

For some activities, Intel RealSense PT Metrics uses the video captured while you perform activities to calculate how you're doing. For example, it calculates the maximum angle you managed to bend your knee. Your clinician can use the Intel RealSense PT Metrics Clinician's web portal to view the results and assess your progress.

To review your measurements –

From the Home screen, select Menu è Results to show the measurements taken while you are doing the activities.

results.png

For each activity, the last 12 results are shown, giving you a sense of how well you are progressing.

Scroll down using your fingers to see all results.

Click the arrow at the top-left of the screen to return to the Home Screen

Results are not shown for every type of activity. If no measurements were taken while you did an activity, the activity is listed without results.

Note – Activities that were not completed are not listed here.

Note – Some activities do not collect results. When such activities are completed, they are shown in this list without results.

Note – Your clinician can review these results from a web page.

Signing Out

We recommend that you sign out (log out) of Intel RealSense PT Metrics when you are finished with your session. Anyway, Intel RealSense PT Metrics automatically signs you out after a short while of inactivity.

Viewing Your Schedule

Select Menu burger menu.png→ Schedule to show a day-by-day activity schedule overview of the activities assigned to you in your treatment plan by your clinician. It enables you to keep track of your activities, monitor your progress, and see how your past activities compare with the goals set in your treatment plan. It also shows you the activities that are awaiting you in the coming days.

full Schedule screen.png

Daily Overview

The top of the Schedule screen shows a series of vertical bars representing each day of your schedule. The current day is in the center. Each vertical bar shows how many of the assigned activities you've completed. If you finish all your activities for a day, a crown appears on top of the bar, and the bar turns green. If you only finish some of the activities, two indicators show your progress: a bar that fills up with blue to represent how much you've done, and a number on top of the bar showing the percentage of activities you've completed. The vertical bar appears gray for activities scheduled for the coming days.

Schedule header with results.png

Note – Here's how the system calculates the activities completion indicator. It combines the number of activities you did and how much of each activity you completed. For example, if you were assigned 4 activities to do, you completed 60% of one activity, 80% of another and didn’t start the other two, the calculation is: (60% + 80% + 0% + 0%) / 4 = 35%.

Detailed Daily Schedule

The lower part of the screen displays the details for the selected day. Each row represents an activity, showing –

  • An image of the exercise
  • The name of the exercise
  • The number of sets and repetitions
  • Your performance compared to the goal set by your clinician
  • A video icon to watch the video captured as you performed the activity
  • An indication whether you fully completed the activity (shown as the word Done on the right side of each activity row)

  • dots menu.png – Clicking on the three-dot icon displays a menu that lets you view all the results of that exercise (the latest results and previous results).
