Medical Cart Wheel Troubleshooting

Are the Wheels Rotating?

This is the fundamental question when diagnosing wheel problems. If the wheels are not rotating properly, follow these checks:

  1. Check if the wheel lock is enabled: If the wheel lock is on, disable it and try moving the cart again.
  2. Check for foreign materials: Ensure there is no debris or material stuck to the wheels, which could be blocking their rotation. After clearing, test the cart's movement again.
  3. Look for obvious mechanical damage: If neither of the above steps resolves the issue, inspect the wheels for any visible mechanical damage. If you find damage, order the appropriate replacement parts.

If none of these checks resolves the issue, further investigation.

Are the Wheels Wobbly?

If the wheels are rotating but appear wobbly, this could indicate that they are loose or improperly attached. Follow these steps:

  1. Tighten the wheels: Refer to the GCX service manual for instructions on how to properly tighten the wheels.
  2. If the wheels are still wobbly after tightening, proceed to the next check.

Is the Caster Base Loose?

If the problem does not seem to be with the wheels but rather with the caster base (the part that connects the wheels to the central support pole of the cart), follow these steps:

  1. Tighten the caster base: Use the provided tool, as outlined in the service manual, to securely fasten the base to the central support pole.

Mechanical Damage or Other Issues

If none of the previous steps resolves the issue, it is recommended to inspect the cart for any mechanical damage that may require part replacements. If no visible damage is present and the problem persists, the cart may need a more detailed investigation or open a ticket describing the issue.
